ISLE OF MANBACK TO UK

Set in the Irish Sea between Northern Ireland and Cumbria on the west UK mainland is a little bit of self governing heaven. The coastline is varied, and includes small harbours, beautiful sandy bays, rocky beaches and rugged cliffs. Inland there are tree lined glens with beautiful waterfalls, extensive moorlands plus a mountain (Snaefell) which rises to 2034 feet at it’s summit and on a clear day provides views of all four Kingdoms.

The Isle of Man’s diverse landscape means there is a good variety of wildlife to be seen - the following images were captured in just few days! Strangely, there are no foxes, badgers, deer, moles, otters or snakes to be found on the island. The Manx Wildlife Trust manage several good nature reserves - you can obtain details of these via their website (see details below) or by picking up a leaflet in their shop in Peel. We stayed in Glen Helen (a named marker point on the TT circuit) at excellent accommodation with extensive grounds including a trout stream - Glen Helen House Apartments - check out their Facebook page for details. This area proved to be a good starting point for easy access to the whole of the island.
